Amba Ashtakam (अम्बा अष्टकम्): The Goddesses in Hinduism are depicted as the motherhood of God. She is the transforming power behind the sustaining power of the God. Goddess Rajarajeshwari, also known as Amba, or Parvati, or Durga, is the wife (consort) of Lord Shiva and exists in various divine forms.
She is the most splendid form of the Cosmic Mother. She is the Royal Divine Queen of all Kings (Rajarajeshwari), the merciful protecting energy of the Cosmos. She is care, love, mercy and grace intensified. Two of Her most powerful and excellent forms are Durga (Goddess beyond reach) and Kali (Goddess of destruction).
According to the Puranas, She is engrossed in the creation of the Universe through Brahma, She sustains the creation through Vishnu and she also annihilates the creation through Shiva. She is the One performing the actions through the Gods.
The scriptures describe her to be seated on a Simhasana pose, upon Lord Sadashiva (the Cosmic Consciousness) whose legs are Brahma, Rudra, Indra and Vishnu. She is depicted to be worshipped by all the 33, 00, 00,000 Devas along with Lord Ganesha and Subramanian. She is the mother of the Universe Who is always contemplated upon and praised by Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, served by Goddess Lakshmi and Saraswati, and is even beyond the comprehension of the Trinity Gods.
Shri Rajarajeshwari Ashtakam is an octet in the praise of different forms and glories of the same Mother, believed to be composed by the enlightened Guru Shankaracharya. One who recites this beautiful and best among the Stotra with full faith and devotion to Mother Amba (Goddess), will receive the blessing of knowledge, protection from all kinds of sufferings (and evils), and finally attains liberation, the highest goal to be attained.
Swami Vivekananda ji has recomposed Shri Amba Ashtakam. By reciting the Amba Ashtakam, the grace and blessings of Shri Durga Mata achieved. Mother Durga is called Amba.

चेति भवन्नखिल खासी कदम्ब थारु वतिषु नकी पातली,
कोटीर चारु थर कोटि मनी किरण कोटि करंभिथ पदा,
पत्तेर गन्धि कुच सती कविथ्व परिपतति मघधिप सुथ,
घोती कुलध अधिक धतीमुधर मुख वीती रसेन थानुथं. 1
कुलाथि गम भय थुल वाली ज्वलखिल निज स्थुथि विधोव्,
कोलाह लक्ष पिथकल मारे कुसल कीलाल पोषण नभ,
स्थूल कुचे जलधा नील कुचे कलिथ लीला कदम्ब विपिने,
सूलयुधा प्रनथि शील विभथु ह्रुधि सःऐलधि राज थानाय. 2
यथास्रोयल गथिउ थथर गज अ वस्थु कुत्रापि निस्थूला शुका,
सुथ्रम कला मुख सथ्रसन प्रकार सूथ्रण करी चरण,
चथ्रनिल थिराय पथ्रभि राम गुण मिथ्रमरी समा वधू,
कुथ्रस हन्मनि विचिथ्रकृथि स्फुरिथ पुथ्रधि धन निपुण. 3
ड्वैपयन प्रभृथि सपयुधा त्रि दिवस सोपान धूलि चरण,
आपहस्व मनुजा पानूलिना जन थापपनोध निपुण,
नीपलय सुरबिधुपलका दुरिथ कूपदः उधन्चयथु मां,
रूपभिका शिखरी भूपाल वंस मणि धीपयिथ हगवथि. 4
यल्ली भिर अथम थानु थालीस कृतः प्रिय कपलीषु खेलाडी भय,
व्यलीन कुल्यसिथ चूली भरा चरण धूलि लसन मुनिवर,
भलीब्रुथि स्रवसि थाली धलं वहथि यलीक शोभा थिलक,
साली करोथु मम कलि मन स्वपद नालीक सेवन विधौ. 5
न्यन्गकरे वपुषि कङ्काल रक्था वपुषि कन्कधि पक्ष विषये,
ठ्वम् कामनामयसि किं कारणं ह्रुध्य पन्गरि मय गिरिजां,
संख शिला निसि थादन्गयमाना पद संग समान सुमनो,
ज्जंकारि मन्थ थिमन्गनु पेठ ससि संगै वक्त्र कमलं. 6
कंभवथी समा विदंबा, गलेन नव थुम्भप वीणा सविधा,
साम्ब हुलेय ससि भिम्बाभिरम मुख संभधिथ स्थान भर,
अम्बा कुरङ्ग मध जम्बाल रोचिरिह लंबालक दिसथु मय,
बिम्बधरं विनथ संभायुधाधिनी कुरंभा, कदम्ब विपिने. 7
इदनकी रमणी बन्ध भावे हृदय बन्धावथीव रसिका,
संधावथि भुवन संधरनेप्य अम्रुथसिन्ध उधर निलया,
गन्धनुभान मुहूर अन्धली वीथ कच बन्धा समर्पयथु मय,
सं धमभनुमथि संधानमसु पध संधान मप्यग सुधा. 8
