Ganesh Sahastranaam (गणेश सहस्त्रनाम): Though Sanatan Dharma has the status of Goddess goddesses of thirty three Crore and everyone has different significance. But in all these deities, Lord Ganesh is the son of a singular Devi Parvati. Their recognition has been coming from a very ancient time in India, because it is being worshipped as Panchdev and also being worshipped before any deity. Lord Ganesha is not an ordinary god, because in any virtue, some excellent and ordinary remembrance and recitation of these are the most obligatory in the ordinary karma.

A Sahastranaam is a Hindu hymn of praise in which a deity is referred to by 1,000 or more different names. Ganesh Sahastranaam are recited in many temples today as a living part of Ganesha devotion.

One major version appears in Ganesha Purana, an important scripture of the Ganapatya. This version provides an encyclopaedic review of Gnashes attributes and roles as they were understood by the Ganapatya. A Sanskrit commentary on a sub variant of this version of the Ganesha Sahastranaam was written by Bhaskararaya. Bhaskararaya titles his commentary “Firefly”, making a play on words based on two different meanings of this Sanskrit term. In his opening remarks Bhaskararaya says that some will say that because the commentary is very brief it is inconsequential like a firefly but to devotees it will shine like the sun. The source text of Bhaskararaya’s Khadyota commentary, but there are quite a few differences in names, and the versification differs slightly.

The Ganesh Purana is a Sanskrit text that deals with the Hindu deity Ganesha. It is a minor Purana that includes mythology, cosmogony, genealogy, metaphors, yoga, theology and philosophy relating to Ganesha.
