Daksha Prajapati was the son of Brahma. His adopted daughter was Sati, who made Shiva her husband by austerity, but he disliked Shiva’s lifestyles. Shiva and Sati had a very happy couple life, but the thought of insulting Shiva did not go from the heart of Daksha. With this motive, he organized a Yajna in which all the gods and goddesses except Shiva and Sati were invited.
When Sati got this information he decided to go to that sacrifice. She asked Shiva for permission, but he refused. He said that when he did not call us, why should we go? Sati said that I am his daughter; I can go without invitation even. But when Shiva refused to go there, Mata Sati got angry and said, ‘I will go in the sacrifice and take my share in it, and otherwise I will destroy it.’
She was so hurt by this behaviour of father and husband that her eyes became red with anger. She started looking at Shiva with a fierce sight. Her lips started flapping. Then she did terrible heehaw. Shiva became frightened. She started running around. On the other hand, the body of Sati was blackened by anger.
Shiva ran away by looking at her ghastly look, but the direction in which he went, a terrible Goddess stopped his way. He ran in ten directions and 10 ladies stopped his way, and finally they all got together in Kali.

पाठ विधि:
इस मन्त्र को सिद्ध करने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है, यह मन्त्र स्वयं सिद्ध है, केवल माँ काली के सामने अगरबती जलाकर 11 बार सुबह और 11 बार शाम को जप कर ले, मन्त्र एक दम शुद्ध है, भाषा के नाम पर हेर फेर न करे। शाबर मन्त्र जैसे लिखे हो वैसे ही पढने पर फल देते है शुद्ध करने पर निष्फल हो जाते है।
प्रथम बाण
ॐ नमः काली कंकाली महाकाली
मुख सुन्दर जिए ब्याली
चार वीर भैरों चौरासी
बीततो पुजू पान ऐ मिठाई
अब बोलो काली की दुहाई।
द्वितीय बाण
ॐ काली कंकाली महाकाली
मुख सुन्दर जिए ज्वाला वीर वीर
भैरू चौरासी बता तो पुजू
पान मिठाई।
तृतीय बाण
ॐ काली कंकाली महाकाली
सकल सुंदरी जीहा बहालो
चार वीर भैरव चौरासी
तदा तो पुजू पान मिठाई
अब बोलो काली की दुहाई।
चतुर्थ बाण
ॐ काली कंकाली महाकाली
सर्व सुंदरी जिए बहाली
चार वीर भैरू चौरासी
तण तो पुजू पान मिठाई
अब राज बोलो
काली की दुहाई।
पंचम बाण
