Parmeshwar Stotra, परमेश्वर स्तोत्र

Parmeshwar Stotra | परमेश्वर स्तोत्र

Parmeshwar Stotra (परमेश्वर स्तोत्र): Parmeshwar Stotra is a prayer to the God which is ultimate. In some stanza of Parmeshwar Stotra it addresses Lord Shiva and in another Lord Vishnu but what it aims is to address God who is beyond such limited descriptions. It is extremely musical and taken from Stotra Rathnavali.

In the Parmeshwar Stotra it is depicted by praying that Hey Lord of universe, O, Lord of good people, source of everything, you supreme one, you are the primeval God, Hey very holy one, O, father, take care of this sinner who lacks wisdom and strength, and help to cross this painful life which is difficult to cross.

It is also mentioned that Oh God who helps people to cross this life, please help us, we are troubled by this life. The people do not have good qualities, who is miserable, and possesses a very dirty mind, and who has base and egoistic personality, to cross this life though we are, far away from your protective and endowing glance.

Parameshwar Stotra is normally recited at the end of reciting several Stotra or the end of singing several songs or at the end of an auspicious function. The devotee wishes auspiciousness to the Lord. This may also mean good wishes or wishes for a happy ending.

This hymn of praise is devoted to Lord Mahesvara who is the inseparable companion of Uma who represents his Shakti. The non-difference between the Shakti and Shaktiman is given an anthropomorphic form in the half male half female Ardhanarisvara in temples. These two otherwise called Parvati and Parameshwara by Kalidasa in his song of invocation in Raghuvamsa are rightly compared by him to that eternally inseparable pair the word and sense, vak and Artha, a truth which Katyayan, the grammarian states in his first varttika.
