अर्कप्रकाश की परंपरा बहुत पुरानी है, यह ग्रन्थ के अध्धयन से प्रतीत होता है। इससे यह निर्णय किया जा सकता है की रावण के समय में भी अर्क चिकित्सा का प्रभाव था। यहाँ पर ऐतिहासिक दृष्टि से विचारणीय है की यदि त्रेता युग में उत्पन्न राम के समकालीन रावन को लिया जाय तो उस समय यह चिकित्सा प्रणाली पूर्ण विकसित हुई और वह परंपरा कुछ भिन्न-भिन्न होती सी अब भी चल रही है। -Arkprakash Book.
