On the way Lord Ram visited Sita’s Swayamvara (in which the bride chooses her husband herself) ceremony which was performing in Janakpur. King Dasaratha wanted to crown Him as his heir. But the crookedness of Manthara and Kaikeyi caused obstacles to his plan. Lord Rama, obeying His father, went to the forest with His brother, Lakshmana and wife Sita. In the forest Lakshmana, by obeying his brother, Sri Rama, deformed the face of Surpanakha, Ravana’s sister. Because she insisted on having illicit and sinful relations with them.
