भारतीय संस्कृति साहित्य दो शाखाओं में बांटा जाता है – आगम और निगम। आगम शब्द तन्त्र के लिए और निगम वेदों के लिए प्रयुक्त हुआ है। इस प्रकार तन्त्र उच्चकोटि के साहित्य में गिना जाता है। तन्त्र शास्त्र के अनुसार दैविक शक्तियों को अनुकूल उनसे मनोवांछित कार्य लिया जा सकता है। महानिर्वाण तन्त्र में बताया गया है कि कलयुग में मनुष्य केवल आगम तन्त्र के अनुसार ही सिद्धि पा सकेंगे। अन्य मार्गो से ग्रहस्थों को सिद्धि प्राप्त नहीं होगी। लेकिन इन प्राचीन दुर्लभ और रहस्यमयी साधनाओं को कोई भी पूर्णता के साथ उजागर नहीं करता। कुछ ऐसी ही साधनाओं और मन्त्र तंत्रों की सिद्धि योगिराज अवतार सिंह अटवाल ने की है जो प्रायोगिक तांत्रिक तो है लेकिन व्यवसायी लेखक या ढोंगी नहीं। इनका तन्त्र ज्ञान अद्वितीय है। किसी भी तन्त्र से सम्बन्धित सिद्धि को सम्पन्न करने के लिए उस सिद्धि के मूल रहस्यों का समझना बहुत आवश्यक है। भारतीय तन्त्र ग्रन्थों में इन साधनाओं का विधि सहित उल्लेख मिलता है। आज कोई भी तांत्रिक इन प्राचीन दुर्लभ व रहस्यमयी साधनाओं के रहस्यों को प्रमाणिकता के साथ उजागर नहीं करता। तांत्रिक ग्रन्थों में तन्त्र साधना के बारे में बहुत कुछ मिलता है लेकिन इन सिद्धियों को प्राप्त करने के लिए अत्यंत कठिनाई होती है। महानिर्वाण तन्त्र में लिखा है कि कलयुग में ग्रहस्थ लोग केवल आगम तन्त्र के अनुसार ही कार्य करेंगे; अन्य मार्गो से ग्रहस्थी को सिद्धियाँ प्राप्त नहीं होंगी। -Mahavidya Mantra Tantra Book.
