- Menka was the most beautiful Apsara in heaven. When the great ascetic sage Vishwamitra started penance for the creation of a new heaven, Devraj Indra, frightened by his tenacity, sent Menka to disturb his penance.
- The Menka dissolved Vishwamitra’s austerity by her appearance and beauty. Vishwamitra left everything and fell in love with Menka. He cohabited with Menka. Sage Vishwamitra’s tenacity had now broken, but still Menka did not return to Indraloka.
- Menka Apsara likes the smell of rose, jasmine, tuberose, harsingar and ratrani. They look very beautiful and almost 16-17 years old. During Apsara Sadhana, Sadhak has to keep restraint on his sexual feelings otherwise Sadhana may fail. When Sadhana is completed with resolve and mantra, Menka Apsara appears then instrument presents her with rose as well as perfume. She is then presented with sweets made of milk, paan, etc. and then a promise is taken from her to be with her for the rest of her life.
