Usually, when we see a seated Ganpati Murti, he is sitting on a throne or on a lotus flower. The most common sitting position is famous as Lalitasana. It shows Ganesha seated on a throne with his left leg folded and his right resting on the ground or vice versa. In some models, the Lord is seen sitting cross-legged on a lotus flower, and this particular position suggests that he is meditating. The foot resting on the ground shows that Lord Ganesha has an interest in the affairs of the world. Moreover, he is there to help the devotees and bestow his blessings on the world. Ganesha means wisdom and knowledge. Through the physical image of the god over the years, several symbolisms that are in association with the god and project as desirable qualities so that we too try to emulate these qualities in our daily lives.
