Legend
The description of Kaila Devi Ji one can find in Skanda Purana 65th Adhyaya. In where the goddess declared that in Kaliyuga she will have a name as “Kaila” and her devotees will worship her as Kaileshwari. However, this is also from the Padma Purana. Besides, the Vedas say that in Kalyug, worshiping Kaila Devi will give instant fulfillment. For instance, the Karauli Kings have always had a deep connection with the temple. There is a temple in Karauli state. This Kaila Maa Murti is of Goddess Kaila Devi who is the tutelary deity of the rulers of the (Jadaun) Rajput/Kirar/Banjara community.
People now worship her as Kaila Devi and as Vindhya Vasini and Hinglaj Mata in other places. The arrival of the goddess image in this destination is a fascinating story. A Yogi baba carried the statue on a bullock cart and fled from Nagarkot to protect it. Meanwhile, Kaila Devi appeared to sage Kedargiri and assured him that she would come to the people of the area. However, Yogi’s only bull stopped at the central part of the hill in the middle of the dense forest and refused to budge. Based on the divine ceremony, the establishment is done at that very place.
