Panchmukhi Hanuman Brass Idol/Pital Hanuman Murti (पंचमुखी हनुमान मूर्ति): The origin of the Sri Panchmukhi Hanuman Brass Idol can trace to a story in the Ramayana. During the war between Lord Rama and Ravana, Ravana took the help of Mahiravana, who is the king of Patiala. Lord Hanuman covered Lord Rama and Lakshman created a fort with his tail. Mahiravana took the form of Vibhishana and took Lord Rama and Lakshman to the patala loka.
Hanuman entered patala loka while hunting Rama and Lakshmana. He determined that to kill Mahiravan he had to extinguish five lights burning in five different directions simultaneously, so he took the form of Panchmukhi with Hanuman, Hayagriva, Narasimha, Garuda, and Varaha facing each other and extinguished the lights and killed Mahiravan. These five faces are Lord Hanuman, Lord Narasimha, Lord Adivaraha, Lord Hayagriva, and Lord Garuda. Hanuman/ Panchmukhi Hanuman Brass Idol is a great yogi (Jeremiah) who has transcended the five senses (Pancha Indriyas).
