Pashupatinath Puja Shivling/Pashupati Shiva lingam (पशुपतिनाथ शिवलिंग): Pashupati is the ‘Lord of Animals’. He is an incarnation of Lord Shiva, also known and worshiped as ‘Pashupatinath’. “Pashupati” word derived from two words, “pashu” means “animal” and “pati” means protector. So Pashupati literally means Lord who protects animals. Pashupatinath Puja Shivaling is worshiped by the complete Hindu community all over the world but its importance lies more in Nepal. Pashupatinath is considered the national deity in Nepal. (Pashupati Shiva lingam)
There is a famous legend regarding the creation of the Pashupatinath Puja Shivling Temple. According to this legend, a cow visited this particular spot every day and offered her milk to the earth. The owner of the cow saw her one day and became suspicious. So he dug the place and found the Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva. Slowly more and more people gathered around the Pashupatinath Puja Shivling for worship and Lord Pashupatinath Puja Shivling became popular while the place became a pilgrimage center. The Lingam in the Pashupatinath Temple is unique. It owes its uniqueness to the lingam four-leaf clover. The faces are in four directions. The facing east is Tatpurusha. Towards the west is Sadhyojata, facing north is Vamadeva, and the one facing south is Aghora. The highest part of Shivalinga has the name Ishan. (Pashupatinath Puja Shivling)
Legend
Another Vedic legend says that Lord Vishnu named Lord Shiva as Pashupati and other gods during the time of Tripura Samhar when Shiva became the lord of all demons (pashu) and destroyed Tripura, the three cities of illusion ruled by the asuras. Kamlaaksha, Taarakaaksha, and Vidyunmaali wreaked havoc by attacking gods and sages. In the Shiva Purana, it is also a belief that any living being, including humans, who is in the clutches of their ego, desires, and ignorance is an animal (pashu). Most people don’t realize that there are specific places to put Shiva to enhance the vibrations it gives off.
According to Vaastu (the science of architecture in Ayurveda), the best placement of idols in a Shivalinga is the northeast corner of the house. This is also the best place to set up a Puja room (meditation place) as it is famous as the Ishan corner. The best place for a Pashupatinath Puja Shivling is on an altar table, but any area where no nearby objects are too close to the statue is also suitable. Do not place the statue at the end of the bed or under anything such as a clothesline. And unlike Ganesha, Shiva doesn’t really belong at work because his energy is too strong. This Pashupatinath Puja Shivaling is sanctified by the experts of astromantra.com. It is for immediate use ready to use for the holder.
